Sander Jansen shares insights on DCI advancements at OFC 2025

Short course will explore DCI architectures and technology in cloud-scale networks and how WDM enables efficient high-capacity links

  • Speakers: Sander Jansen, VP and GM of infrastructure monitoring at Adtran; Dirk van den Borne, director of system engineering at Juniper Networks; Mark Filer, area tech lead at Stealth Startup
  • Topics: High-capacity data center interconnects for cloud-scale networking
  • When: Monday, March 31, 8:30 a.m. PT
  • Where: OFC, Moscone Center, San Francisco, California, USA https://www.ofcconference.org/en-us/home/

Data center interconnect (DCI) technology underpins modern cloud-scale networks by enabling high-capacity connections across short, metro and long-haul links. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is key to achieving ever-higher DCI data rates, and emerging deployments prioritize power efficiency, scalability and advanced modulation formats to handle surging global traffic demands.

In this short course, Sander Jansen, Dirk van den Borne and Mark Filer will explore DCI technologies, such as 400ZR/ZR+ pluggable WDM optics, and discuss their impact on DCI architectures. They will also explain the latest standardization initiatives and give a comprehensive overview of different system design trade-offs in terms of cost, capacity, density, complexity and power consumption.
