Ognjen Jovanovic presents new coherent PON solution at OFC 2025

Session will feature a proof-of-concept experiment that demonstrates enhanced link budget and a streamlined design in optical networks

  • Speakers: Ognjen Jovanovic, senior engineer of advanced technology at Adtran
  • Topics: Low complexity 100G burst-mode TDMA-CPON transmission achieving 38dB link budget
  • When: Tuesday, April 1, 3 p.m. PT
  • Where: OFC, Moscone Center, San Francisco, California, USA https://www.ofcconference.org/en-us/home/

As bandwidth demands and user densities grow, network operators must scale optical access networks while managing complexity and cost. Conventional methods often struggle with performance and power limitations, driving the need for solutions that deliver higher speeds, longer reach, and greater efficiency.

In this session, Ognjen Jovanovic will present a practical 100Gbit/s burst-mode coherent solution that achieves a >38dB link budget without optical amplification. He will also showcase a novel ~17.1ns DP-QPSK preamble that ensures digital signal processor (DSP) convergence, enabling power-efficient modulation and reduced DAC requirements for next-generation optical networks
