Seamless 50G upgrade for 5G fronthaul networks

Growing bandwidth demands are driving the need for 50Gbit/s connectivity in 5G fronthaul links. A typical use case involves passive DWDM-based links spanning up to 15km, with pluggable optics connecting directly to radio units. SFP56 transceivers are the preferred choice, offering twice the data rate of SFP28 transceivers while maintaining the same size and power consumption. Our AccessWave50™ tunable SFP56 pluggable transceiver has been designed to meet these requirements. Host-agnostic and I-temp hardened, it can be plugged straight into any device with standard SFP56 ports, including 5G radio units. This ensures a smooth and cost-efficient upgrade to 50Gbit/s, enabling mobile operators to scale their fronthaul networks with ease.

Our AccessWave50™ accelerates the adoption of 50Gbit/s Ethernet and eCPRI services in 5G mobile networks. While the combination of C-band operation and 50Gbit/s bandwidth typically limits 50Gbit/s pluggable transceivers to just a few kilometers, our patented distance-optimization and signal shaping technology extends reach to 15km over SMF28 fiber. This enables mobile operators to expand fronthaul capacity without costly infrastructure upgrades, ensuring a future-ready, high-performance network.
